PENTAGRAM, SWARATHMA & TOUGH ON TOBACCO LIVE AT HARD ROCK MUMBAI ON FRIDAY, 16th APRIL

PENTAGRAM
Randolph, Shiraz, Papal and Vishal came together in 1994, with a strong need to play individual, original, unique music. This was as much a reaction to the stagnating Indian Rock scene, populated by bands playing mostly cover music, as it was a primal instinct. They did the rounds of college festivals, almost immediately becoming well known and popular, by winning three major rock competitions at the Kanpur, Delhi and Bombay IIT’s.

They signed a record deal and put out their first album (We Are Not Listening) in 1996. It was listed by Rhythm House (India's premier record store) as the fastest selling rock album. They released two videos ('The Ignorant 1’ and 'Yoo') which were frequently played by all the music channels.

SWARATHMA

Swarathma is a Bangalore based contemporary folk fusion band that represents the sound of today’s India: rooted in tradition, yet with sights set firmly on the world. The sound is Indian folk and classical blended with reggae, blues and jazz in a blend that is one of a kind.

Swarathma released 2 albums on EMI in 2009, and have worked with the legendary John Leckie (Radiohead, Muse). They were named Indie of the Year 2009 by Indiecison Magazine. They swept the Jack Daniel’s Rock awards for 2009, winning the popular category awards for the Best Band, Best Album and Best Song as well as the critics’ choice award for the Best Band.

The band is known for a visually electric stage act featuring faux-stage-horses, Bihari accents and Nehru topis at various times. This act has won over audiences in the UK, Singapore and Hong Kong apart from India.

TOUGH ON TOBACCO

Tough on Tobacco is singer-songwriter Sidd Coutto’s talent packed, genre bending, convention defying, wildly funny, brand new live act. The music is a mélange of pop, rock and reggae. ‘Tough on Tobacco’ is an anti-tobacco message. Don’t start smoking! It’s hard to quit once you start. And it’s just not worth it. If even one young adult says no to tobacco because they heard us, we’ll be justified in our cause.
